ABSTRACT The large cattle production hubs in Brazil carry out the conduction of production through intensive grazing of pastures, promoting some degree of degradation. Agroforestry systems are considered a viable alternative for the recovery of degraded areas resulting from livestock production. However, the lack of knowledge about the benefits related this cultivation strategy may hinder the adoption of these systems. Thus, the objective was to interview four sectors of the society of São Félix do Xingu-PA to understand and verify the acceptance, contribution, knowledge, and desires for the implantation of a silvopastoral system in the region. For this research, questionnaires have been applied to different sectors of local society, higher-level academic sector, commerce sector represented by local entrepreneurs, the rural sector represented by farmers, and urban sector represented by members of the community in general. About the silvopastoral system, commerce had the highest percentage of ignorance (84.00%). To the benefits of the system, it found that there is a great lack of knowledge among citizens located in the urban area (88.89%). During actions carried out with urban systems, the questionnaires of the participating communities (96.33%) participated/reported were never published. As for the indication of the system, it was found that the sectors of commerce (100.00%), rural (82.61%), and academic (100.00%) are favorable to its implementation. Regarding the environmental benefits, the urban area (85.19%) wasn't known. And when talking about the highest economic returns from the system, respondents belonging to the commerce (84.00%) are unaware of these returns. It was concluded that most citizens are unaware of the system. It was suggested that more actions focused on the theme be carried out, making it possible to take this information to the population, so that the system is disseminated and implemented by farmers in the region.

RESUMO Os grandes polos de produção bovina no Brasil realizam a condução da produção, por meio do pastoreio intensivo das pastagens, promovendo algum grau de degradação. Os sistemas agroflorestais são considerados alternativa viável para a recuperação de áreas degradadas, decorrentes da produção de gado, no entanto, a falta de conhecimento sobre os benefícios relacionados a esta estratégia de cultivo pode dificultar a adoção destes sistemas. Assim, objetivou-se entrevistar quatro setores da sociedade de São Félix do Xingu-PA para compreender e constatar a aceitação, contribuição, conhecimento e anseios para a implantação de sistema silvipastoril na região. Para esta pesquisa, aplicaram-se questionários em diferentes setores da sociedade local, setor acadêmico de nível superior, setor de comércio representado pelos empresários locais, setor da zona rural representado pelos agricultores e setor da zona urbana representado por membros da comunidade em geral. Sobre o sistema silvipastoril, o comércio apresentou maior porcentagem de desconhecimento (84,00%). Em relação aos benefícios do sistema, constatou-se que há um desconhecimento maior dos munícipes situados na zona urbana (88,89%). Ao questionar sobre ações realizadas com os sistemas silvipastoris, constatou-se que os munícipes da zona urbana (96,30%) nunca participaram das mesmas. Quanto à indicação do sistema, constatou que os setores do comércio (100,00%), zona rural (82,61%) e acadêmico (100,00%) são favoráveis à sua implantação. Sobre os benefícios ambientais, a zona urbana (85,19%) apresentou desconhecimento. E ao falar dos maiores retornos econômicos advindos do sistema, os entrevistados pertencentes ao comércio (84,00%) desconhecem esses retornos. Conclui-se que a maioria dos munícipes desconhecem o sistema, com isso, sugere-se que mais ações voltadas ao tema sejam realizadas, possibilitando levar essas informações à população, para que o sistema seja mais difundido e implantado pelos agricultores da região.

ABSTRACT Cordia trichotomais a native species with economic potential due to its wood quality. However, knowledge regarding the production of quality seedlings of the species is still incipient. Thus, the objective was to evaluate the use of agricultural residues as a substrate compound and the shading intensities in the nursery phase forCordia trichotomaseedlings production. Five substrate compositions were tested: S1 (80% CF-coconut fiber- and 20% CCC-carbonized coffee husks); S2 (60% FC and 40% CCC); S3 (80% FC and 20% CAC-carbonized rice husk); S4 (60% FC and 40% CAC); S5 (100% commercial substrate). Also, we tested four different shading levels: 0%; 30%; 50%;80%. The experiment was in a factorial design with a completely randomized design. At 180 days, we measured seedling height, stem diameter, shoot dry mass, and root system dry mass and calculated the robustness index and Dickson Quality Index. We observed that carbonized husks provided lower growth than the use of a commercial substrate in all analyzed variables. Furthermore, shading provided negative quadratic growth in the analyzed variables. Thus, it is recommended the use of commercial substrate and shading of 50% in seedlings of Cordia trichotoma

RESUMO Cordia trichotoma é uma espécie nativa que possui grande importância econômica devido à valorização da qualidade de sua madeira. No entanto, os conhecimentos quanto a produção de mudas de qualidade da espécie ainda são incipientes. Dessa forma, objetivou-se avaliar o uso de resíduos agrícolas como composto de substrato e as intensidades de sombreamento em fase de viveiro, para a produção de mudas de Cordia trichotoma. Foram testadas cinco composições de substrato: S1 (80% FC-fibra de coco- e 20% CCC-casca de café carbonizada); S2 (60% FC e 40% CCC); S3 (80% FC e 20% CAC-casca de arroz carbonizada); S4 (60% FC e 40% CAC); S5 (100% substrato comercial). E quatro diferentes níveis de sombreamento: 0%; 30%; 50%; 80%. O delineamento experimental foi inteiramente casualizado em esquema fatorial. Foram mensurados aos 180 dias, a altura das mudas, o diâmetro de coleto, a massa seca da parte aérea, a massa seca do sistema radicular e calculados o índice de robustez e o Índice de Qualidade de Dickson. Foi observado que o uso de cascas proporcionou crescimento inferior ao uso de substrato comercial, em todas as variáveis analisadas. Ademais, o sombreamento proporcionou comportamento quadrático negativo nas variáveis analisadas. Assim, recomenda-se a utilização de substrato comercial e de sombreamento de 50%, em mudas de Cordia trichotoma.

ABSTRACT The nutrient management in eucalyptus plantations it is a key practice, in this way, consistent efforts are necessary to optimize the use of nutriente. In this context, the objective of this work was to evaluate the adequate doses of slow release fertilizer (SRF), in comparison to the application of simple superphosphate (SPS) in the base fertilization (BF) and its impact on the need for top dressing (TD) in seedlings of a eucalyptus hybrid, grown in pots. The experiment was arranged in a randomized block design in a 6x3 factorial scheme, in which the first factor corresponds to six doses of AB (0, 50, 75, 100, 125% of P) of SRF and 100% of P, of simple superphosphate (SPS). The second factor corresponded to three CF applications (0, 1 and 2 portions of KCl and NH4NH3. The doses of N, P, K were based on the recommendation of fertilization in pots of 300, 100 and 100 mg dm-³, respectively at 120 days, height (H), stem diameter (D), leaf area (LA), number of leaves (NL), plant dry mass were evaluated. In addition, doses of maximum technical efficiency were calculated (DMTE). The averages obtained by BF with SLF, of all variables were higher than the SPS. For the H, it is recommended to use one CF, with a DMET of 252.56 mg dm-³, of P, for having obtained growth similar to SPS. For the other variables, DMTE for BF, ranged from 236.52 to 327 mg dm-³, of P. In relation to CF, the, D, NL and shoot dry mass, did not show differences significant, which evidences the quality of the fertilizer in supplying the nutrients supplied in the CF, enabling its reduction. Thus, the DMTE indicated for plantings of the species is 100% ALL, guaranteeing satisfactory initial growth and use of only one CF.

RESUMO O manejo de nutrientes em plantios de eucalipto é uma prática fundamental. Dessa forma, muitos esforços são realizados para otimizar o uso dos nutrientes pelas plantas. Nesse contexto, objetivou-se avaliar as doses adequadas do adubo de liberação lenta (ALL), em comparação à aplicação de superfosfato simples (SPS) na adubação de base (AB) e o seu impacto sobre a necessidade de adubação de cobertura (AC) em mudas de um híbrido de eucalipto, cultivadas em vaso. O experimento foi disposto em delineamento em blocos casualizados em esquema fatorial 6x3, em que o primeiro fator corresponde a seis doses de AB (0, 50, 75, 100, 125% de P) de ALL e 100% para P, de superfosfato simples (SPS). O segundo fator correspondeu a três aplicações de AC (0, 1 e 2 parcelas de KCl e NH4NH3). As doses de N, P, K foram baseadas na recomendação de adubação em vasos de 300, 100 e 100 mg dm-³, respectivamente. Avaliaram-se, aos 120 dias, a altura (H), o diâmetro do colo, a área foliar (AF), o número de folhas (NF) e as massas secas da planta. Ademais, calcularam-se as doses de máxima eficiência técnica (DMET). As médias obtidas pela AB via ALL, de todas as variáveis, foram superiores ao SPS. Em relação à H, recomenda-se o uso de uma AC, com DMET de 252,56 mg dm-³, de P, por ter obtido crescimento semelhante ao SPS. Para as demais variáveis, DMET, para a AB, variou de 236,52 a 327 mg dm-³, de P. Já em relação à AC, o D, NF e a massa seca aérea não apresentaram diferenças significativas, o que evidencia a qualidade do fertilizante em suprir os nutrientes fornecidos na AC, possibilitando sua redução. Assim, a DMET indicada para plantios da espécie é 100 % ALL, garantindo crescimento inicial satisfatório e uso de apenas uma AC.

Resumo Um dos principais componentes orgânicos utilizados em mudas é a casca de arroz, entretanto, não é encontrada com facilidade, principalmente no sul de Minas Gerais, enquanto que a palha de café é um dos principais resíduos gerados nesta região. Sendo assim, objetivou-se avaliar a viabilidade técnica da utilização de substratos à base de palha de café carbonizada (PCC) em detrimento da utilização de casca de arroz carbonizada (CAC), em formulação com fibra de coco (FC), para a produção de mudas de Eucalyptus urophylla e Anadenanthera macrocarpa. Foram testados quatro substratos, com cinco repetições e 20 mudas por parcela, utilizando delineamento em blocos casualizados. As proporções das misturas foram S1 (60% FC e 40% CAC), S2 (80% FC e 20% CAC), S3 (60% FC e 40% PCC) e S4 (80% FC e 20% PCC). Foram mensurados, aos quatro meses, a altura das mudas (H), o diâmetro de coleto (DC), a massa seca da parte aérea (MSPA), a massa seca do sistema radicular (MSSR) e calculados o índice de robustez (H/DC), a densidade de raízes (DR) e o Índice de Qualidade de Dickson (IQD). Também foram feitas avaliações de facilidade de retirada das mudas do tubete e agregação das raízes ao substrato. Para o Eucalyptus urophylla, todos os parâmetros avaliados estiveram dentro do recomendando para expedição das mudas, contudo, os substratos à base de palha de café carbonizada obtiveram melhores resultados. Para a Anadenanthera macrocarpa, os parâmetros altura, diâmetro de coleto, índice de robustez e índice de qualidade de Dickson apresentaram-se dentro do exigido para expedição das mudas, em relação à formação do torrão, o tratamento empregando 60% de Fibra de coco e 40% de casca de arroz carbonizada apresentou maior média. Sendo assim, indica-se a utilização de palha de café carbonizada em detrimento da CAC para produção de mudas das duas espécies.

Abstract One of the following types of substrates is rice husk, although it is not easily found, mainly in the southern of Minas Gerais state, while coffee straw is one of the main generators of the region. The objective of this study was to use a technique for the use of carbonized coffee straw (PCC) substrates in preference to the use of carbonized rice husk (CAC) in the coconut fiber (CF) formulation for the production of Eucalyptus urophylla and Anadenanthera macrocarpa seedlings. Four substrates were tested, with five replications and 20 seedlings per plot, using a randomized block design. As proportions of the mixtures were S1 (60% FC and 40% CAC), S2 (80% FC and 20% CAC), S3 (60% FC and 40% PCC) and S4 (80% FC and 20% PCC). The height (H), collection diameter (DC), shoot dry mass (MSPA), dry mass of the root system (MSSR) and robustness index (H/DC), root density (DR) and the Dickson Quality Index (IQD), were measured at four months. Evaluations of ease of removal of seedlings and aggregation of roots were also made to the substrate. For Eucalyptus urophylla, all the evaluated parameters are within the recommended for the removal of the seedlings. However, the substrates are based on PCC results. For the Anadenanthera macrocarpa, the parameters H, DC, H/DC and IQD, presented within the required for the expedition of the seedlings, in relation to the formation of the clod, S1 presented higher average. Therefore, the use of CCPs in detriment of CAC is indicated for the production of seedlings of both species.

RESUMO Para que haja uma restauração florestal eficaz é de fundamental importância o conhecimento sobre o crescimento inicial das plantas. Dentre os aspectos a serem considerados destacam-se as exigências nutricionais das espécies utilizadas para tal finalidade, tendo em vista que essas áreas, geralmente, apresentam solos de baixa fertilidade, o que pode dificultar o estabelecimento e crescimento das espécies plantadas. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a influência da adubação fosfatada em espécies florestais nativas, destinadas à recuperação de uma área degradada. O experimento foi conduzido no Centro de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico da UFLA - Fazenda Muquém, situada no município de Lavras, Minas Gerais. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi em blocos casualizados completos, com 12 repetições e uma planta por parcela, em esquema fatorial 7 x 4, sendo sete espécies e quatro doses de superfosfato simples (0, 150, 300 e 450 gramas/cova). Aos 60 dias após o plantio, foram coletados dados sobre porcentagem de sobrevivência, diâmetro ao nível do solo e altura das plantas. Aos 300 dias, além do diâmetro e altura, foi avaliada a área de projeção de copa das plantas. As espécies apresentaram altos percentuais de sobrevivência, com exceção do Inga edulis, com sobrevivência de 58%. Dentre as sete espécies estudadas, Schinus terebinthifolius e Guazuma ulmifolia foram as que apresentaram maior crescimento dos parâmetros analisados, sendo, portanto, as espécies de maior potencial para um recobrimento mais rápido dessa área. A adubação fosfatada influenciou, de forma distinta, o crescimento inicial das sete espécies, em relação às doses de superfosfato simples aplicadas. Recomenda-se a dose de 250 gramas de superfosfato simples por cova, como adubação de base para todas as espécies.

ABSTRACT For an effective forest restoration, knowledge about the initial growth of plants is of fundamental importance. Among the aspects to be considered, the nutritional requirements of the species used for this purpose stand out, considering that these areas generally have low fertility soils, which can hinder the establishment and growth of the planted species. The objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of phosphate fertilization on native forest species, destined to the recovery of a degraded area. The experiment was carried out at the Center for Scientific and Technological Development at UFLA - Fazenda Muquém, located in the municipality of Lavras, Minas Gerais. The experimental design used was in complete randomized blocks, with 12 replicates and one plant per plot, in a 7 x 4 factorial scheme, with seven species and four doses of simple superphosphate (0, 150, 300 and 450 grams/pit). At 60 days after planting, data on percentage of survival, diameter at ground level and plant height were collected. At 300 days, in addition to the diameter and height, the canopy projection area of the plants was evaluated. The species showed high percentages of survival, with the exception of Inga edulis, with 58% survival. Among the seven species studied, Schinus terebinthifolius and Guazuma ulmifolia were the ones that showed the highest growth in the analyzed parameters, being, therefore, the species with the greatest potential for a faster covering of this area. Phosphate fertilization influenced, in a different way, the initial growth of the seven species, in relation to the doses of simple superphosphate applied. It is recommended to dose 250 grams of simple superphosphate per hole, as a basic fertilization for all species.

Abstract Acrocarpus fraxinifolius stands out due to its uses in the timber industry and rapid growth. However, information is scarce regarding its fertilization. We aim to understand how soil preparation and phosphorus doses affect A. fraxinifolius initial development. The experimental design used was a randomized block design in a 2 x 5 factorial scheme, consisting of two types of soil tillage (minimum and conventional) and five doses of phosphorus (P) (0, 50, 100, 150, and 200 g of simple superphosphate) with four replications, and plots formed by two plants. The measurement occurs at 30 and 210 days after planting, assessing the height and diameter at the stem height. Initially, the minimum tillage provided had a higher average height and diameter. However, conventional tillage, acidity correction, and fertilization with 108 g of simple superphosphate per plant resulted in Acrocarpus fraxinifolius plants with better growth at 210 days after planting.

Abstract We present the first records of insect visitors and pollinators of Bertholletia excelsa (Lecythidaceae) in a 25 years plantation outside the Amazon biome, flowering and producing Brazil nuts. We installed a platform to observe and photograph the insects. The collected insects were stored, mounted, and identified by specialists. Six species were observed, three of them classified as potential pollinators (Centris lutea, Eulaema nigrita, Eulaema cingulata). The species E. nigrita and E. cingulata were already reported as a pollinators of Brazil nut in Amazon. This is the first record of C. lutea as potential pollinators for B. excelsa.

Abstract Basic information about growth rate and response to silvicultural treatments on potential native species are bottlenecks for the wide use of these species for forest production. In this context, the objective of this work was to evaluate the silvicultural performance of four native species as a function of pruning intensity. The experimental design was completely randomized with ten replications and one plant per plot, in a 4 x 4 factorial scheme, four forest species, and four pruning intensities. At 30 and 42 months, height (H) and diameter at breast height (DBH) were evaluated, then the current annual increment (CAI) was calculated, as well as the mean annual increment (MAI) at 42 months. Guazuma ulmifolia showed higher growth in height and DBH compared to other species at both ages. The pruning resulted in a reduction of MAI in 0.15 cm. year-1 in DBH for every 25% of pruning intensity.

The aim of this study was to evaluate survival, genetic variability and estimate genetic parameters in E. erythropappus progenies in the field at 15, 22 and 30 months of age. The experiment was set up at Fazenda Guapiara, in Aiuruoca, Minas Gerais State, where seedlings of 15 progenies were planted in a randomized block design with five replications and six plants per plot. Plant height evaluations were performed and genetic studies were carried out in the SELEGEN software using the REML/BLUP method. At 30 months, the percentage of seedling survival was evaluated. Significant differences were observed between progenies, and the highest estimates of h²mp (0.48) and Acprog (0.69) were found at 30 months. Therefore, even in the juvenile stage, it was possible to identify genetic variability and analyze its expression over time, which makes it possible to continue studies of genetic improvement of the species.

Abstract Fertilization in the seedling production phase is essential to form quality seedlings. Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the appropriate doses of two slow-release fertilizers (SRF1 and SRF2) and their nutrient leaching behavior. For this, five different doses of fertilizers were tested. 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8 kg m-³. The height, stem diameter, leaf area, shoot dry mass, root system dry mass, total dry mass, and the Dickson Quality Index were measured, and for each variable the maximum dose of technical efficiency was determined. In addition, was evaluated the electrical conductivity, over time, for determinate the leaching of the nutrients. All the variables had satisfactory growth for field planting. However, the SRF2 resulted in greater seedling growth and also experienced less nutrient loss by leaching, when compared with the SRF1. The both fertilizers could be utilized to seedlings production, at doses of 4.00 kg m-³.

ABSTRACT Background: This study aims to evaluate the technical feasibility of simple coppice system, in a planted stand of the native arboreal species Eremanthus erythropappus (DC.) MacLeish (candeia), according to different moments of soil scarification. The experiment is located in Baependi - MG (Brazil), where the mean altitude is 1,165 m and it´s under mild mesothermal climate. The first cycle was harvested under a clear-cutting system at 8 years after planting, with manual soil scarification and exposure of roots around the harvested trees stumps, at 5, 6, 7, and 8 weeks after cutting, i.e., four treatments with four repetitions of 50m2 plots each. In the first months, adventitious buds sprouting from the roots have been observed inside and outside the perimeter around stumps. The area remained fenced, without thinning or application of fertilizers and, until the third year, the selective clearing was done to eliminate weed competition. Six years after the treatment, measurements of diameter at 1.30 m height (DBH), the height of the sprouts, and the circumference at soil height (CSH) of stumps were taken. Results: After six years, the regenerated site under simple coppice system presented a density of established plants 216% higher than the harvested site using a high forest system (first cycle), but with only 4.3% of the commercial volume. The correlation between the density of sprouts and the density of stumps indicated that initial plant density can influence the number of sprouts after harvest. Conclusion: It was verified the simple coppice system feasibility and that scarification technique can be applied up to eight weeks after tree cutting.

Resumo Na produção de mudas de espécies florestais há vários fatores que influenciam no seu crescimento. Dentre estes, um dos mais importantes é a composição do substrato. Nesse sentido, é essencial a seleção de bons constituintes que atendam a essa demanda. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o crescimento inicial de mudas de Eucalyptus urophylla, Peltophorum dubium e Eremanthus erythropappus, produzidas em diferentes formulações de substratos. Para cada espécie, foi instalado e conduzido um experimento, utilizando-se nas formulações os constituintes casca de arroz compostada, casca de café compostada, fibra de coco e substrato comercial. Os experimentos foram instalados em delineamento inteiramente casualizado (DIC), constituídos por oito tratamentos, cinco repetições e 20 mudas por parcela. Para avaliação da qualidade das mudas, aos 120 dias foram mensuradas as variáveis altura, diâmetro do coleto, peso de matéria seca da parte aérea, peso de matéria seca do sistema radicular e índice de qualidade de Dickson. Como análises qualitativas, foram avaliadas a facilidade de retirada das mudas do tubete e a agregação das raízes ao substrato. Os resultados encontrados após a avaliação atestaram que as mudas produzidas nos tratamentos formulados com casca de café compostada apresentaram valores superiores para a maioria das variáveis analisadas, quando comparado com as mudas produzidas nos tratamentos formulados com a casca de arroz e na testemunha. Para as três espécies, indica-se a utilização da proporção de 40% de casca de café compostada com 40% de substrato comercial e 20% de fibra de coco para composição do substrato.

Abstract In the production of forest species seedlings there are several factors that influence their growth. Among these, one of the most important is the composition of the substrate. In this sense, it is essential to select good constituents that meet this demand. The objective of this work was to evaluate the initial growth of seedlings of Eucalyptus urophylla, Peltophorum dubium and Eremanthus erythropappus, produced in different substrate formulations. For each species, an experiment was installed and conducted, using composted rice husk, composted coffee husk, coconut fiber and commercial substrate in the formulations. The experiments were installed in a completely randomized design (DIC), consisting of eight treatments, five replications and 20 seedlings per plot. To evaluate the quality of seedlings, at 120 days the variables height, stem diameter, dry matter weight of the aerial part, dry matter weight of the root system and Dickson's quality index were measured. As qualitative analyzes, the ease of removing seedlings from the tube and the aggregation of roots to the substrate were evaluated. The results found after the evaluation attested that the seedlings produced in the treatments formulated with composted coffee husk presented higher values for most of the analyzed variables, when compared with the seedlings produced in the treatments formulated with the rice husk and in the control. For the three species, the use of the proportion of 40% of coffee husk composted with 40% of commercial substrate and 20% of coconut fiber for the composition of the substrate is indicated.

Resumo: A resposta germinativa de sementes submetidas à condição de estresses artificiais é uma ferramenta para melhor entendimento da capacidade de sobrevivência e adaptação das espécies em condições de estresses naturais. Objetivou-se avaliar o efeito protetor do óxido nítrico durante a germinação e vigor de sementes e desenvolvimento de plântulas de Eucalyptus urophylla sob condições de estresse salino. O delineamento foi inteiramente casualizado, com cinco repetições, em esquema fatorial 3 x 3 + 1, sendo três condicionantes (água, nitroprussiato de sódio - SNP e nitrato de potássio), três condições de germinação (água destilada, e os potenciais de -0,6 e -1,2 MPa), tendo como tratamento adicional, o controle (semente não condicionada). Determinou-se: contagem da germinação aos sete e quatorze dias, índice de velocidade de germinação, comprimento da raiz primária, de parte aérea e total. O SNP protege as sementes possibilitando maior porcentagem de germinação, assim como promove maior crescimento de raiz e tamanho total de plântula, já o KNO3 não é eficaz protegendo as sementes, as quais sofrem com estresse salino, o que afeta suas características fisiológicas e morfológicas. Sementes de E. urophylla são sensíveis ao estresse salino e o condicionamento fisiológico com SNP promove o aumento da porcentagem de germinação, vigor e desenvolvimento de plântulas sob condições de salinidade.

Abstract: The germination response of seeds under artificial stress conditions is a tool for better understanding of the survival and adaptation ability of species under natural stress conditions. The aims of this study were to evaluate the protective effect of nitric oxide during germination as well as seed vigor and seedling development of Eucalyptus urophylla under salt stress conditions. The experimental design was completely randomized, with five replications, in a 3 × 3 + 1 factorial arrangement, with three priming factors [water, sodium nitroprusside (SNP), and potassium nitrate (KNO3)], three germination conditions (distilled water, and the water potentials of -0.6 and -1.2 MPa), and an additional control treatment (unprimed seeds). The following determinations were made: germination count at seven and fourteen days, germination speed index, primary root length, shoot length, and total length. SNP protects seeds, leading to a higher percentage of germination, as well as greater root growth and total seedling size, whereas KNO3 is not effective in protecting seeds that suffer from salt stress, which affects their physiological and morphological characteristics. E. urophylla seeds are sensitive to salt stress, and physiological priming with SNP leads to an increase in the percentage of germination, vigor, and seedling development under salinity conditions.

Resumo O uso de polímeros hidrorretentores surge como uma alternativa para disponibilizar água de forma adequada na fase de implantação de povoamentos florestais, além de reter nutrientes necessários para o estabelecimento e desenvolvimento destes. No presente trabalho, objetivou-se avaliar o efeito do polímero hidrorretentor e a influência de diferentes doses de fertilização mineral no crescimento, teor e acúmulo de nutrientes do híbrido clonal de Eucalyptus urophylla x Eucalyptus grandis, na fase de implantação. O experimento foi realizado em delineamento de blocos casualizados completos, em esquema fatorial 2 x 5, sendo duas doses do polímero (0 e 1 g planta-1) e cinco combinações de fertilização mineral (N0P0K0, N0P1K0, N1P0K1, N1P1K1 e N2P2K2, correspondendo à dose de N (N0 = 0, N1 = 62 e N2 = 124 g do fertilizante por planta), P (P0 = 0, P1 = 75 e P2 = 150 g do fertilizante por planta) e K (K0 = 0, K1 = 62 e K2 = 124 g do fertilizante planta)), em três repetições com cinco plantas por parcela. As avaliações foram realizadas aos 30, 60, 120 e 150 dias pós-plantio, quando foram mensurados a altura total e o diâmetro do colo, além da análise química nutricional, aos 150 dias. A partir dos dados obtidos, observou-se que não houve interação entre o efeito do polímero e doses de fertilização mineral. Para o diâmetro do colo, o uso do polímero proporcionou maior crescimento às mudas somente nos 30 primeiros dias de avaliação, e para altura houve maior crescimento nas avaliações aos 30, 60 e 120 dias de plantio. Os tratamentos contendo fósforo (18% de P2O5) obtiveram maior incremento em diâmetro em relação aos demais nos primeiros 60 dias pós-plantio. Nas outras avaliações, a maior dose de fertilizante (N2P2K2) foi responsável pelo maior crescimento em diâmetro e altura. A maior dose de fertilização mineral promoveu maior acúmulo de NPK na parte aérea das plantas (caule, ramos e folhas). Portanto, o polímero proporcionou maior crescimento às mudas na fase inicial de desenvolvimento, e o fósforo se mostrou essencial para o crescimento em diâmetro e altura na fase de implantação do híbrido utilizado.

Abstract The use of water retaining polymer appears as an alternative to provide adequate water the phase of implantation the forest stands, further retaining nutrients necessary for the establishment and development of these. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of the water retaining polymer and influence of the different forms of mineral fertilization at growth, content and nutrient accumulation of a clonal hybrid of Eucalyptus urophylla x Eucalyptus grandis in the implantation phase. The experiment was carried out in a randomized complete block design at 2 x 5 factorial scheme, with two polymer doses (0 and 1 g plant-1) and five mineral fertilization combinations (N0P0K0, N0P1K0, N1P0K1, N1P1K1 e N2P2K2, corresponding to the dose of N (N0 = 0, N1 = 62 e N2 = 124 g of fertilizer per plant), P (P0 = 0, P1 = 75 e P2 = 150 g of fertilizer per plant) e K (K0 = 0, K1 = 62 e K2 = 124 g of fertilizer per plant)) in three replications with five plants per plot. The valuates were performed at 30, 60, 120 and 150 days post-planting, when total height and root collar diameter were measured, as well as nutritional chemical analysis, at 150 days. From the obtained data, observed that there was no interaction between the effect of the polymer and doses of mineral fertilization. For the root collar diameter use of the polymer only provided bigger growth seedlings at 30 days the evaluate, and for the height, there was greater growth in the valuates in the 30, 60 and 120 days of planting. The phosphorus treatments were obtained a bigger increment to the diameter in relation for the others 60 days after planting. These the other evaluations of higher fertilizer dosage (N2P2K2) was responsible for the greater growth in diameter and height. The higher dosage of mineral fertilization promoted greater accumulation at NPK in the aerial part of the plants (stem, branches e leaves). Therefore, the polymer gave a higher growth seedling in the initial phase development, and the phosphorus was shown to be essential for the growth in diameter and height in the phase of implantation of the hybrid used.
